## About
I am an innovative, highly motivated, and problem-solving R&D chemical engineer, academician, and membrane scientist with over 16 years of experience in teaching and academic/industrial research, i.e., post-Ph.D. 8 years, PhD 4.5 years, and Pre PhD-4.3 years). My previous work focused on developing different membranes, i.e., ternary mixed matrix membranes, facilitated transport membranes, and polymeric membranes for CO2 separation. My research expertise is membrane technology for carbon dioxide separation and water treatment, renewable fuels, CO2 capture, materials development, and characterization using advanced analytical tools, particularly in the energy sector, including research expertise in the development of innovative research methods, data modelling, management research grants, and proposal writings within a multidisciplinary research domain and to cope with the challenges focusing on the energy sector.
As an Associate Professor at the University of Jeddah, I have led the Advanced Membrane Research Unit, driving innovations in membrane technology for gas separation, biofuels, and water treatment. I have worked on advancing research and enriching future engineers' educational journey through curriculum development and mentorship, aiming to instil in them a passion for sustainability and innovation.
During my career, I have secured ten research grants (03 as Principal Investigator, 05 as Co-Principal Investigator, 02 as External Member) from the Deanship of Research at the University of Jeddah, The Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDIA), Saudi Arabia and Yayasan UTP (YUTP), Malaysia., which reflects the confidence of the scientific community and industry stakeholders in the potential impact of my work.
My research novelty has been proven by the publication of 50+ journal articles in high impact factor and Quartile, such as Journal of Membrane Science (IF 9.5, Q1), Chemosphere (IF 8.8, Q1), Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering (IF 7.7, Q1) and Process Safety and Environmental Protection (IF 7.8, Q1). I have 10 book chapters, 01 media article, and 01 Editorial. Besides journal articles, I have edited a book in collaboration with peers from the UK and Denmark. The book covers the aspects of sustainable carbon capture technologies and their applications. I have served as lead guest editor of a special issue for the MDPI “Membranes” journal. I am also co-editing a special issue for the MDPI Energies journal with a peer at Teesside University. I am also an academic editor of the PLOS One journal and have been appointed to the Membranes (MDPI) journal's Topical Advisory Panel. These contributions span a variety of topics within environmental technology, membrane technology, and chemical engineering. By disseminating knowledge of my research developments to a broader scientific community, these serve as a foundation for further exploration and potential application in both industrial and academic settings.
